Good Morning Campers
Greetings to the devoted out there in Stunt Nation. We hope all is well and that you celebrated the Independence Day holiday safely. It is a good thing to do your own stunts, but always, please, practice caution, good common sense.
This weekend the Drunk Stuntmen are going to mark their 10th Anniversary at Bourne Scenic Park.
The Family campground, located under the Bourne Bridge, near the Cape Cod Canal, is hosting the Stuntmen's annual appearance at the campground, Saturday July 12. The show is r ain or shine, and campsites are limited and first come first to be roasting some piping plover and marshmallows over an open fire. Okay, I apologize, we do not condone the consumption of the endangered piping plover, but I do hear it tastes like chicken.
The Uncle Jimmy Band featuring Scott and Seth Hall, Stephen Desaulniers, and Special Guests will get things rocking around 6 PM. Rumor has it that Freddy is going to dust of the pedal steel for this one.
The Stuntmen are scheduled to perform at shortly there after. Admission is $31 for campers with a tent, first come first serve. A day pass is $10,but you have to leave right after the music starts...just kidding, you can stay for the show. Hope to see you there.
Peter Blackstock of No Depression magazine, honored the Drunk Stuntmen, once again, with his most recent blog posting.
In a post titled, "these are hard times, these are precious times." (the third time he has referenced Freddy's tune Halcyon Days in his blog) Peter wrote about his picks for the first half of the year.
"State Fair", Drunk Stuntmen. Oftentimes I'll close a year-end disc with an instrumental, and this one would have to be a prime contender for the 2008 version. It's the title track of the Stuntmen's latest release, and while it seems sorta out-of-place for them -- Steve Sanderson's vocals are such a central part of the band's identity -- it's just a beautifully played piece that conveys its emotions and dynamics artfully, without a need for words. It's deep, and dark, yet hope shines out between the cracks of that darkness."

If you would like to hear what Peter is talking about, get the Album. It is available online from Barnes and Noble and any record store short of Walmart will order it for you. In the Pioneer Valley, it is available at Night Owl Records in East Hampton, MA. Can we ignore the irony that one of the few locations that our album is available, locally, is closing soon? Get thee to Night Owl, while you can.
Thank You, Hope to see you in Bourne.
Do Your Own Stunts! (as long as they do not involve Polka music and engaging a Coast Guard vessel, Pabst Blue Ribbon in hand, patrolling the Cape Cod canal at 5:30 AM.)
